Act As If

Act As If

How do you view yourself?

Do you view yourself as someone who struggles with weight loss or achieving your health goals or as someone who is fit and healthy, loving yourself & loving life?

Today I’ll be talking about this concept a bit more and how we can use it in our lives.  Click the video to play or read the post below:

I just love the following quote from Tony Robbins:.

“If you want to be successful, find someone who’s achieved the results you want and copy that & you’ll achieve the same results.”

It’s an interesting concept isn’t it?

Let’s talk about it from both a practical standpoint and a mindset standpoint.

From a practical standpoint, are there people in your life who are where you want to be health & fitness wise for example?

You can ask them what it is they do.  Or you can simply notice.  It can be really interesting.

Is there anything that you can incorporate into your life?

An example from my life is when a friend and I went to a conference.  At the time I was struggling to lose a few pounds, while my friend was trim, taut & terrific and looked fantastic.

Lunchtime came around and my friend had brought some fruit from home, so she had a beautiful healthy lunch.

I hadn’t, so I hit the fast food vendor and came back with goodness knows what – it was high fat, high salt, high calorie (and had almost zero real nutrients!).  It was going to taste good for about five minutes and then leave me feeling bloated and uncomfortable.

My friend had made a choice that was going to nurture and nourish her body and I hadn’t.

That was a really good example of how my choices were different to hers.  So I was then able to model some of what she was doing in my life.

Now from a mindset point of view, just take a moment to imagine now how you’ll feel once you’ve achieved your goal.

How do you think?

How do you feel inside?

How do you hold yourself?  Do you move differently?

Just taking a moment to imagine that can be really helpful.

I’d like to leave you today with two action items.

One is to look around your life and find people who are where you want to be with your health and fitness.

Watch what they do.  You can ask them or simply observe.

Is there anything you can incorporate in your life?

Perhaps just one or two small changes (and you know I’m all about the small changes) that you can make in your life that is going to make a real difference long term.

The other thing is to do the mindset exercise.

Imagine how it’s going to feel when you’ve achieved your goal.  Do you think differently?  Do you move differently?  What are your attitudes like?  Are you making different choices?
